Overview:
In the outside world, 15 years have passed since an unprecedented disaster destroyed modern civilization. A boy named Maru, with the help of a girl named Kiruko, travels through the ruins of Japan to find a place called “Heaven.†Meanwhile, in a serene facility, children are raised in a robotic-like routine with no contact with the outside world—until their curiosity sparks the will to escape and discover the truth.
